Hello Foundations Families and Friends,
The pursuit of helping a child who is struggling to thrive in school can be a stressful and lonely journey for parents. We desperately want our children to experience success, have a good future, and to feel happy and confident. It can feel scary when we question if those things will happen, and trying to figure out how to best support your child’s growth can be confusing and disheartening at times.
In this week’s Foundations video, the Taliaferro family share about their journey of finding the right support for their daughter, Mia. As you’ll hear, they spent years searching for a school or program that would meet all of their daughters’ needs, and they feared that her future may be limited by her learning challenges. From preschool through junior high school their daughter attended public school, various private schools, went to after-school learning support programs, they tried medications and special diets, all to no avail. When they learned about Foundations, they felt hopeful that they had finally found the right fit for their daughter (and family).
Mia is now a senior in high school and is finishing her third year at Foundations. As you’ll hear her parents share, not only has she experienced wonderful cognitive and academic growth over the past three years, she has grown emotionally and socially as well. Even further, they discuss how invaluable the support they have received has been and how they have more hope for Mia’s future than ever before.
